The inspiration:
The extraordinary light that water (and ice, and snow) can capture - think glacial lakes, sunlight through icebergs, and the warmest tropical waters. These ethereal amazonites evoke it all.

The materials:
Bright sterling silver haloes extend from these pure aqua amazonite cabochons, while tiny pebbles of recycled sterling silver glitter beneath, like pebbles at the water's edge.

The history:
Found in small deposits almost worldwide, amazonite was erroneously thought to have been first mined in South America, and the name stuck. This aqua-hued member of the microcline feldspar family has been used in jewellery and decorative arts for more than 2000 years, primarily in ancient Egypt and what was know as Mesopotamia. Like most green stones, it has been considered a talisman of healing and good luck, and has thought to be soothing to the wearer, and thanks to its luminous colours, the beholder as well!

The process:
These exceptional, gemmy amazonites are set in handmade bezels, framed by a perfect halo of gleaming sterling silver wire. Five silver beads shine below the stone, perched within the halo's light. Above, a tiny arc of sterling connects them to their handmade 20g (.8 mm diameter) sterling silver earwires (the standard width wire for western ear-piercings.) A pair of clear silicone stoppers is included to keep them securely on your ears. The silver throughout has been polished to a high shine, while a touch of patina sets off beaded details and bright, glowing aqua of the amazonites.
