Lacy Aquamarine Earrings Sterling Silver, Petite March Birthstone Earrings, Pale Blue Gemstone Jewelry, Delicate Jewellery for Her
The inspiration:
Luminous, icy aquamarines, framed in delicate sterling silver like stained glass windows inspired by sea and sky. March's magical birthstone, made even more beautiful thanks to a special cabochon cut.
The materials:
Perfect, petite oval aquamarines in the dreamiest soft blue glow with light in these dainty, striking sterling silver earrings.
The history:
A member of the beryl family, aquamarine's name comes from two Latin words: aqua, meaning “water,” and marina, meaning “of the sea". Both the Greeks and the Romans believed aquamarine to be a sailor’s gem, ensuring the safe and prosperous passage across vast and stormy seas. Historically it was thought that wearing beryl quickens the mind, gives one protection against enemies and challengers, and makes the wearer gracious and good-natured. It is now celebrated as the birthstone for March, and has been embraced both as a symbolic wedding gift for a new bride and as a gift to celebrate and brighten 19 years of marriage.
The process:
These dainty aquamarines are set in handmade, open backed bezels, framed with 3 gleaming silver beads along their bottom edge. Stacked arcs of sterling silver wire gleam above the stones, and connect the earrings to their 20g (.8 mm diameter) sterling silver earwires (the standard width wire for western ear-piercings.) A pair of clear silicone stoppers is included to keep them securely on your ears. The silver throughout has been polished to a high shine, while a touch of patina brings out the tiny beaded details.
The details:
Earring length: 31 mm
Earring width: 11 mm at its widest point
Stone cut & size: natural aquamarine oval cabochons, approximately 5mm wide by 10 mm long.
Stone source: Pierre Rouge, Marieville, Québec
